Our Story
HerWay. Strength Studio was created from a simple belief
Women deserve a place where strength training feels supportive, respectful, and thoughtfully coached.
For many women, walking into a gym can feel intimidating. The equipment feels unfamiliar, the environment can feel overwhelming, and too often women end up on the cardio machines simply because they’re unsure where to begin.
This studio exists to offer women a calm, boutique environment where strength training is taught properly, with guidance, education, and space to move at your own pace.
We believe strength training is not just about exercise.
It’s about capability, independence, and confidence as we move through different stages of life.
We're not here to compete, we're here to offer something different.
Leah
Coach · AUSactive Accredited
Fourteen years ago, Leah walked out of her first ever gym session in tears. She couldn't lunge across the floor, and she was the only one. She went back the next day to prove she could. That moment is still the foundation of everything she does.
Leah isn't an athlete. The gym isn't her whole life. She's an everyday woman with curves who lifts because it makes her feel capable in ways nothing else does. Her personal passion is Olympic weightlifting, snatches, power cleans. But what truly drives her coaching is watching women become confident in their bodies, and being right there to celebrate with them.
A few hours per week, you'll find Leah at the PCYC, and she wouldn't have it any other way. She's built relationships there she couldn't walk away from, working with people in their 70s and 80s on their strength journey, and running their Domestic and family violence fitness program. Longevity isn't a buzzword for Leah. It's the whole point.
She coaches women who feel out of place in gyms. Women who've never thought of themselves as athletic. Women who are done being confused by their own bodies, the hormonal shifts, the energy changes, the weeks where everything feels harder for no obvious reason. If that's you, you're exactly who she's here for.
Monique
For a long time, I took movement and what my body could do for granted. That changed after a motor vehicle accident left me with a broken pelvis, torn PCL and more.
I spent 4 months learning just how to walk again.
Throughout my recovery, I was told that I didn't need full athletic function of my body, and that being able to stand was enough even if it wasn't without pain.
That experience changed the way I see strength.
It made me realise how often Women are made to believe that we don't need to be strong, capable or athletic. That simply getting by is enough.
I know what it feels like to have your own belief in what you’re capable of slowly chipped away.
Rebuilding my strength taught me something different.
Our bodies are capable of so much more than we give them credit for, and strength is about far more than what you can lift. It’s about trust. Confidence. Independence. And knowing that your body is able to accomplish whatever life asks of it.
That's why I became a coach.
I want every woman I work with to feel stronger, more confident and powerful in her own body. Whether that's lifting a weight she never thought she could, moving without fear, making everyday tasks that little bit easier, or discovering she can do far more than what she was told - those moments matter to me.
I’m here to help women rebuild trust in their bodies, strength they can feel - not just physically, but in a way they see themselves.
I want women to know exactly how strong we can be.

Mata
Coach · Waitlist Open for October
For a long time, Mata knew what it felt like to start and stop. Growing up, she loved playing league, touch football, and spending time in the gym, but as life became harder, so did showing up for herself. Discipline felt out of reach, excuses became easy, and she slowly drifted away from the things that once made her feel alive.
After surviving domestic and family violence, Mata knew she wanted more than just to move on. She wanted to grow. She wanted peace and healing, and to become the woman God had created her to be. Through faith, the right support, and a commitment to her own growth, she began rebuilding her life one step at a time.
Fitness became more than exercise. It became a place where she found strength, confidence, and hope. It reminded her that real strength is not measured by the weight you lift, but by the courage to keep showing up, even when it is hard.
Becoming a coach was never part of Mata's plan, but she now believes it is part of her purpose. She has a heart for women who feel lost, struggle with confidence, or simply need a safe space to believe in themselves again.
Nothing brings Mata more joy than watching women discover what they are capable of. Whether it is lifting a heavier weight, walking a little taller, or finding confidence beyond the gym, every step forward is worth celebrating.
Mata believes courage is not found on your best days. It is found on the days you do not feel like showing up but choose to anyway. Because sometimes the strongest thing you can do is simply take the next step.
